Hyaluronic acid - the buzz word in skincare
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring, water-attracting molecule in the skin and connective tissues. It plays a critical role in maintaining skin hydration, plumpness, and elasticity. In skincare, it is used to provide moisture, reduce fine lines, and promote a youthful complexion.
To achieve these results in skin care formulation, one can either add hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate. The choice of which one to incorporate into a formulation depends on a variety of factors, including choice, product type, product pH, and achievable product stability.
The law requires that only formulation ingredients be listed on the label. That is why you may only see the precursor, Sodium Hyaluronate, listed on labels – not Hyaluronic Acid - essentially, they are the same thing.
So, when you choose your skincare products and looking for hyaluronic acid be sure to also look for the precursors and not just hyaluronic acid.
At JDBotanics we use Sodium Hyaluronate, which is found in the anti-aging serum and anti-aging cream – try it, your skin will love you.
PS - Sodium Hyaluronate is not the only precursor for hyaluronic acid, there are several, but Sodium Hyaluronate has an excellent record of proven efficacy and is therefore the most abundantly used in skincare industry."
